Driftwood 8 45

Driftwood 8 45

Update notice, April 20th: As you can see there hasn’t been much updating in a little while now, but guess what? Stockholm SPX is May 5th-8th, and I need to finish this chapter until then. And that means that it’s SHTURMOVSCHINA TIME!!!!
But first I just need to move …

Yees … I could finally connect to the internets here in Helsinki. V`(oo)´V

(What is a Butur? Maybe I should compile a glossary about all the magic and shamanism stuff in this comic.)

I had wild debates inside my brain about whether Willie should be saying “I can tell you aren’t” or “I can tell you’re not”. Inside my head she said “aren’t”, but to me it sounded a bit strange. Then again, my English has been destroyed by the fact that I hang out too much with American English speakers. According to Google, “aren’t” does have a higher incidence in the UK than in the US, so I followed the voice in my head, after all. Any Brits reading this are welcome to correct me …

  1. Dan P says:

Yeah, Aren’t works just fine in this context. it’s what I would’ve said…

  2. Tinet says:

Ah, thank you! I knew I should trust the voices in my head …

  3. Aidan says:

Aww. Glad that the sweet scene continues unhindered by the unexplained spectral dental floss.

Nice job with the white-on black, btw, specially in the first panel.
    . . .

Hm, I’d use aren’t too, except that I often shorten it to a simple ‘ent. I have several ‘modes’ of speaking, and the familiar-friendly one is typically lazy with such things.

That talk of voices in your head sounds kinda creepy though. Unless you mean your muse…

  4. Tinet says:

Heh, that is pretty much my ‘muse’: the characters in my comics have conversations with each other inside my head, and I have visions of future scenes in the stories.
It can be a bit distracting sometimes, especially now that I’m old and senile (30 in a couple days) and try to write down at least all the good stuff so I won’t forget it … V^(oo)^V
