INKTOBER 2020

As usual I didn’t make it to the end, but I stuck with it longer than before :3
I chose themes from a whole bunch of different prompt lists.

Inktober day 1: Fish! One of the most interesting fish, sunfish :3
Only too late did I realise I’d forgotten to draw its side fin …

#wildoctoberart day 2: Symbiosis
In some parts of the world, wolfsbane can only be successfully pollinated by bumblebees! Their relationship is an example of mutualist symbiosis – a symbiosis that both parties benefit from. :3
(Pigment liners and watercolours – this motif would have been interesting also just black and white, but I wanted to paint the lovely blue colour of the wolfsbane.)

#hauntober day 3: Tea. Cozy piggy V^(oo)^V

Three prompts in one – #inktober day 4: Radio / #dashtober day 4: Song / #magtober day 4: Shuffle your music and draw based off the song
I shuffled all my music and got The Stone Roses: Mersey Paradise. Which might be something Willie would listen to on the radio of her walkman and sing along to (out of tune) and change the words of. :3 (It actually works because ‘Tyne’ with a Geordie accent sounds more like ‘toon’ …)
This place is in Byker, Newcastle in the industrial area where Quayside becomes St. Lawrence Road. Though I’m not sure if it looked about the same in 1998 as it does today.

A piggy drawing for #peachyfrogtober day 5: Mushroom collecting

Prompt from #dashtober2020 day 6: Stripes (тельняшка) :3

#beartober day 7: Quilt – I’d just finished a new quilt the day before, with my trusty Soviet hand crank sewing machine.

#peachyfrogtober day 8: Hot drinks – Piggy friends sharing an umbrella and drinking mulled wine, maybe …

#peachyfrogtober day 9: Knitting and #beartober day 9: Wood stove. I’d already drawn a cozy piggy by a wood stove, but there can never be enough cozy piggies by wood stoves, and also wood stoves are such an important part of my life. I usually drew these inktober pictures while firing up my stove. :3 Though I’m more of a crochet guy than knitting.

#magtober day 10: Mark making – October 10th is the birthday of my doggie Mitsu (1994-2006 </3), who would mark her territories like this, almost writing her signature in the snow … ♥

Prompt from #peachyfrogtober day 11: Bedtime. Willie is reading the Ithaca chapter of Ulysses, specifically the part “What relation existed between their ages?” …

16 years before in 1888 when Bloom was of Stephen’s present age Stephen was 6. 16 years after in 1920 when Stephen would be of Bloom’s present age Bloom would be 54. In 1936 when Bloom would be 70 and Stephen 54 their ages initially in the ratio of 16 to 0 would be as 17 1/2 to 13 1/2, the proportion increasing and the disparity diminishing according as arbitrary future years were added, for if the proportion existing in 1883 had continued immutable, conceiving that to be possible, till then 1904 when Stephen was 22 Bloom would be 374 and in 1920 when Stephen would be 38, as Bloom then was, Bloom would be 646 while in 1952 when Stephen would have attained the maximum postdiluvian age of 70 Bloom, being 1190 years alive having been born in the year 714, would have surpassed by 221 years the maximum antediluvian age, that of Methusalah, 969 years, while, if Stephen would continue to live until he would attain that age in the year 3072 A.D., Bloom would have been obliged to have been alive 83,300 years, having been obliged to have been born in the year 81,396 B.C.” (page 794 in the Penguin Twentieth Century Classics edition from 1992)

I myself had recently read that passage to my SO at the time (who also had a special interest in mathematics but sadly had not read Joyce before), and since Willie has the book …

Prompt from #majasbokdrawtober2020 day 12: Scene under a table. Masha slumbering under the table while the whole crew is having dinner at Eva and Aeron’s place ♥

#inktober day 13: Dune. Katsuhiro Otomo once said that any landscapes of snow or sand are dead easy to draw, and I agree.

#peachyfrogtober20 day 14: Groceries. I’d just had a talk with someone about some of the shit that happened in 2016, and so I revisited the kind of desolate piggies I used to draw back then. (Nowadays my piggies tend to be cozier. :3) In the words of Sam Hunt, “I’d take 2016 and give it back to you”.

#soupptober day 15: Masks. Riding the train with doggies these days, both wearing masks/muzzles :3

#inktober day 16: Rocket: Cosmonaut piggy waving from the Vostok rocket!
